Britannia Woods Community Services (BWCS) is a community-rooted organization that has supported children, youth, families, and residents for nearly 50 years. Through an equityfocused approach, we provide innovative, accessible, and culturally responsive supports across employment and skills development, child and youth programming, mental health and wellness, community engagement, food security, and newcomer services.

Our employment and skills initiatives work with youth who may face multiple barriers to entering and navigating the labour market. We combine individualized employment support, skills development, employer engagement, work experience, mentorship, and connections to wraparound services to help youth build sustainable pathways into employment, education, and training.

Job Summary:

BWCS is seeking a bilingual Youth Employment Facilitator to support youth in building meaningful and sustainable pathways to employment.

This role brings together employment coaching, and employer engagement. The Facilitator will work directly with youth to identify employment goals, strengthen job readiness, navigate barriers, and connect to employment opportunities. They will also build relationships with employers and community partners to expand opportunities for youth across BWCS’s employment initiatives.

The successful candidate will be equally comfortable supporting youth one-on-one, helping them navigate services and systems, facilitating workshops, and building strong relationships with employers and community partners.

Key Responsibilities

Youth Employment Support

  • Manage a group of youth from intake through employment, providing individualized employment planning, coaching, follow-up, and retention support.
  • Support youth with resumes, applications, interviews, networking, job-search strategies, career exploration, and workplace readiness.
  • Identify employment and broader barriers and work with youth to develop practical strategies to address them.
  • Connect participants to appropriate wraparound supports, including BWCS and/or external mental health, food security, housing, transportation, education, settlement, and other community services.

Employer Engagement & Job Development

  • Build and maintain relationships with employers to develop employment, work experience, mentorship, and career-exposure opportunities for youth.
  • Proactively identify job opportunities and match participants based on their skills, interests, readiness, and career goals.
  • Support youth and employers throughout recruitment, interviews, onboarding, placement, and early employment.
  • Maintain ongoing employer relationships and identify opportunities for longer-term partnership with BWCS.
  • Track employer outreach, job leads, referrals, interviews, placements, and retention outcomes.

Program Delivery & Partnerships

  • Facilitate or coordinate culturally responsive employment-readiness workshops and trainings.
  • Coordinate workplace visits, guest speakers, mentorship, networking opportunities, and other career-exposure activities.
  • Build effective relationships with employers, training providers, educational institutions, community organizations, and other workforce-development partners.
  • Collaborate across BWCS programs to ensure youth can access coordinated and responsive supports.

Documentation & Outcomes

  • Maintain accurate participant, service, and program records within BWCS’s case management systems.
  • Track employment readiness, job-search activity, placements, retention, referrals, and other program outcomes from participants.
  • Support assessments, participant feedback, program evaluation, and funder reporting.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying emerging participant needs, employment trends, service gaps, and partnership opportunities.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Employment Counselling, Social Services, Youth Work, Human Services, Community Development, Education, Career Development, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • 2–3 years of experience in employment services, workforce development, job development, case management, or community-based youth programming.
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships with employers and community partners and developing employment opportunities.
  • Experience providing individualized employment coaching and supporting people facing multiple barriers to employment.
  • Strong understanding of the barriers affecting Black, racialized, newcomer, low-income, and other equity-deserving youth.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent organization, documentation, and case-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Knowledge of, and or lived experience of the black and racialized communities In Ottawa is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to speak French is a strong asset
  • Strong computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, teams, PowerPoint and Outlook), and other databases.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.
